Without a back, I had to leave the coffin in a fragile state, all alone in the shop all weekend. Fortunately, there was no damage when I inspected it Tuesday morning
So I started off the day by spacing the coffin. By the way, see those big 'ol boards sticking up? Those needed to be planed down
Planed with a hatchet! No way I'm going through that much wood with a hand plane for a rough-cut coffin
How rough-cut? Extremely. There are tool marks, protruding nails, and it is nowhere near square — in short, it is the most authentic toe-pincher coffin you will ever see, every detail meticulously planned and executed
I'm still debating adding shelves. On the one hand, if I do not, tourists can pose for pictures within; on the other, shelves are awesome. What do you think?
planned and EXECUTED? I vote for no shelves.
ReplyDeleteOh ho ho ho! I see what you did there. ;)
ReplyDeleteI vote no shelves as well.
ReplyDeleteI say yes, to a small shelf near the top. YOu know, to keep your hat on.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. I TOTALLY concur with Kathleen.
